An energy contract cannot be transferred to another person. Contracts are personal and are always in the name of the contract holder.
When does this apply?
This applies, for example, in cases of:
- a divorce;
- a housemate moving out;
- a property takeover;
- a change of resident.
If someone else continues to live in the home, that person must sign a new energy contract.
How do you arrange this?
The new resident can request an urgent registration. This usually results in the supply being put in the correct name within one business day, so the energy supply continues uninterrupted.
Please note that in some cases a deposit may be required.
Exception: administrative name change
Is the name change needed for an administrative reason, for example, because you want to apply for a VAT refund for a home battery or another product? Then please contact our customer service.
In some of these situations, we can offer a suitable solution without having to terminate the energy contract.
