We are renewing smart charging in the NextEnergy app. Our smart charging partner is changing from Jedlix to Enode. This allows us to support more car brands and provides a better foundation for future improvements, such as charging station integrations and other smart charging features.
Are you already using smart charging through Jedlix? Then you need to reconnect your car once in the NextEnergy app.
Below, we explain the impact this has on our existing users.
What is changing?
- From now on, we will connect your car through Enode instead of Jedlix.
- In the first version, you will primarily connect the car itself. Charging station integrations will follow later.
- You will need to set your charging preferences again because they cannot be transferred automatically.
- Your old Jedlix charging sessions will remain temporarily visible in the app.
When do I need to take action?
| When | What happens? | What do you need to do? |
| Starting September 23, 2026 | You can reconnect your car through Enode. | Disconnect old connections and reconnect your car in the app. |
| Starting October 1, 2026 | The old Jedlix connection will no longer work. | Haven’t reconnected yet? Reconnect your car to use smart charging again. |
| Until January 1, 2027 | Old Jedlix charging sessions will remain temporarily visible. | View your old history through the old Jedlix car under Devices. |
How do I reconnect my car?
- Open the NextEnergy app.
- Go to Devices.
- Select Add new device and select Car.
Disconnect existing connections
During the onboarding process, we automatically check whether your car and/or charging station is still connected through the old connection. Is an old connection still active? If so, we will ask you to disconnect it first during the connection process. This is necessary because your car cannot be controlled through both the old and new connections at the same time.
- Follow the smart charging instructions and give your consent.
- Select your car brand and log in with your car brand account. You will be temporarily redirected to the Enode environment for this.
- Confirm the car that was found.
- Set your charging preferences again.
- After confirmation, your car is connected and you can use smart charging.
After reconnecting, you may temporarily see two cars under Devices → Smart charging:
- New car – you will use this connection for Smart Charging from now on.
- Old car – identifiable by the orange “old” label. You can use this car to view your previous charging sessions from before the switch.
Your old charging history will remain available this way until January 1, 2027.
Would you prefer not to see the old car and its associated charging history in the app anymore? You can delete the old car yourself.
Please note: if you do this, you will no longer be able to view the old charging sessions through the NextEnergy app.
If you do nothing, we will automatically delete the old car and its associated historical view as of January 1, 2027.
