Explanation of Your Energy Costs
To properly understand your energy bill, it is important to distinguish between consumption-dependent costs and fixed costs.
Consumption-dependent costs: These are costs that depend on how much energy you use. You pay these costs per kWh of electricity or m³ of gas and depending on market prices. Read more here
Fixed costs: These are fixed amounts you pay regardless of your consumption. Think of fixed supply costs and network management fees.
Viewing Incurred Costs in the App
Under the Consumption tab, you can see at any time:
- Your incurred costs for electricity and gas.
- The breakdown of these costs.
- The revenues from any energy fed back into the grid.
By tapping the arrow next to electricity or gas, you can view all costs in detail.
Update June 2026: We are currently working to make these detailed cost insights available to all customers. Still seeing the old version of the app? We kindly ask for your patience.
Fixed Supply Costs
These are the fixed costs you pay monthly to NextEnergy for our services.
Network Management Fees
You pay these costs for:
- Your connection to the energy grid.
- The transport of electricity and gas.
- The management of your meter.
The amount of these costs is determined by your network operator and the capacity of your connection.
NextEnergy passes these costs on to you one-to-one.
Energy Tax Reduction
The energy tax reduction is also called levy credit or tax reduction.
This is an annual fixed discount granted by the government on electricity, as energy is considered a basic necessity.
We automatically apply this discount to your electricity bill.
Because of this, you may see a negative amount in the app. This means you will receive a refund.
You do not receive an energy tax reduction for gas. The government encourages the use of sustainable alternatives to natural gas this way.
NextEnergy Benefits
Solar Bonus
The Solar Bonus is an additional compensation for electricity you feed back into the grid.
If you are entitled to this bonus according to your contract, you will receive it automatically. The Solar Bonus is deducted from your total energy costs.
Trading Result
Do you have a smart home battery combined with a dynamic energy contract?
Your battery can automatically store electricity when prices are low and feed back when prices are high. The achieved result is shown as the trading result.
ZonVast
If your solar panels participate in ZonVast, you receive a fixed monthly compensation for this.
During times when we temporarily control or pause your solar panels, you generate less electricity for your household. Therefore, you receive compensation for this.
Good to Know
- All amounts in the app include VAT.
