Why are you eligible for a VAT refund?
Because with the battery and the dynamic energy contract you actively store and feed electricity back to the grid during peak and off-peak hours, the Tax Authorities consider you a small entrepreneur. This entitles you to a VAT refund on your purchase.
Here’s how it works step by step:
With our dynamic energy contract combined with the NextEnergy Payback Battery, you can also store electricity and feed it back to the power grid during peak and off-peak hours. This makes you a small electricity entrepreneur. Therefore, you can reclaim the VAT on your purchase. Depending on your purchase, you can save up to €462,-.
Most households in the Netherlands will qualify for a VAT refund. To be sure, we recommend first taking the VAT test.
Here’s how it works:
- Place your order for a battery (tip: order the desired number of expansions at the same time, as you can only claim the VAT refund once);
- Sign up for a dynamic energy contract with us (under the same name). If you are already a customer, you can skip this step;
- Submit an application through our partner, De Centrale. They will handle the VAT refund application for you. You pay a one-time fee of €90, which you only pay if the VAT refund is successfully processed.
- You pay a one-time fee of €15 per kWh capacity of the battery (approximately €30 for the basic battery);
- After about 6 months, you will receive the VAT refund.
What if you have already claimed VAT for solar panels
If you have already claimed VAT for solar panels, you may not be able to use this scheme again under your name.
Solution: place the order for the battery and energy contract under the name of a partner (for example, your partner or housemate). This way, you can still benefit from the VAT refund. Please contact us for assistance.
