To smart charge your car, you need the following:
- A smart meter
- An active energy contract with NextEnergy
- The NextEnergy app
- A supported electric car*
- Additionally, we recommend using a charging station for (smart) charging your car. This is faster and safer than charging via a household electrical outlet.
Below is an overview of supported brands and models.

Does your car not support smart charging? If the app indicates that the car is not 'smart,' you can still use it if you have a charging station from the following brands:
- Easee
- Zaptec
- Wallbox
In that case, you connect your charging station to the NextEnergy app after connecting your car. If the app indicates that your car is 'not connectable,' you cannot use smart charging.
If both your car and charging station do not support smart charging, unfortunately, you cannot use it. However, you still have access to an overview of information about recent charging sessions since the connection. Together with real-time and day-ahead electricity prices in the NextEnergy app, you can manually respond to off-peak moments.
